Group Volunteering

 

So perhaps you're looking for less of a long term commitment but still want to help out in the community...that's where our group volunteering programme comes in! Through this scheme, young people are able to volunteer on a one-off basis organised by our lovely organisation team; all you need to do is turn up and bring along a couple of buddies! :) Read the information below to find out more...

Step 1: Our opportunities

Every quarter, we will aim to organise one volunteering opportunity for a group of young people to get involved with. These opportunities are for anyone aged between 11 - 18 and are lots of fun! The events we will organise include concerts at care homes or helping out at local museum events.

 

We will post up information about our events on the website and on our Facebook and Twitter pages to make people aware.

Step 3: On the day

On the day, in order to get the most out of your volunteering, there are several things you can do! 

 

  • Turn up promptly, as this gives a good impression

  • Get involved - try to participate in all the tasks that need to be done as part of the volunteering and give each one 100%

  • Be social - talk to other volunteers and have fun with them

Step 2: Contacting us

If you're interested in participating in one of our events, then your next step is to contact us! We will create Facebook Events, so you can let us know you want to be involved by joining those. If you do not have access to social media, that's not a problem! Just e-mail us on mtdreading@outlook.com with your interest and we can sign you up.

 

Remember: it's vital that you include your full name and emergency contacts when letting us know you want to get involved.

Step 4: Getting the most out of it

So once you've finished your group volunteering, you can still get even more out of it.

 

  • Keep a record of the hours you spent doing the volunteering for our 'Hours build-up' challenge.

  • Use this volunteering to demonstrate a skill for our '5-hour challenge'.

  • Earn a super cool MTD wristband!
